Most San Diego small-business builds land between $1,000 and $5,000 depending on page count, e-commerce, and whether copy and photography already exist. Agencies quote $5,000–$25,000+ for the same scope because you are funding their overhead.

Agency day rates run $2,000–$5,000+ per day for multi-person crews — right for broadcast, rarely necessary for brand and social content. Kanyon Studio video projects start at $1,000 flat, with hourly at $125–175/hr for short shoots.

Graduation sessions

A mini session covers the classic cap-and-gown shots at one campus location. A full session adds a second San Diego backdrop — Sunset Cliffs, Balboa Park — an outfit change, and a larger gallery. Splitting a session with friends is the best value in grad photos.

San Diego creative pricing — FAQ

How much does a photographer cost in San Diego?

For commercial and product work, Kanyon Studio books at $125–175 per hour — above the $100–150 mid-market range and well under the $200–350 that staffed studios charge. Most brands book flat projects instead: $1,000 to $5,000 depending on shot count, locations, and models. Real estate listing shoots run $225 and graduation sessions run $175 to $400 — both simple session rates with no project minimum.

Why do agencies charge so much more for the same website?

Agency quotes fund account managers, project managers, and subcontractor markup on top of the person actually doing the work. A solo studio that designs, builds, writes the structure, and shoots the photography removes three layers of overhead, which is why the same scope lands at $1,000–$5,000 instead of $5,000–$25,000+.

Do you charge hourly or by project?

Both are available, but most Kanyon Studio work is flat project pricing quoted within 24 hours of a free consult — no hourly meter and no surprise change orders. Hourly is $125–175/hr and suits short shoots, with no project minimum on hourly bookings. There is no per-image billing, so a bigger gallery never becomes a bigger invoice. The $1,000 flat-project minimum applies to brand projects only — not real estate or graduation sessions.

What is the cheapest way to get both photo and video?

Shoot them on the same day. One location fee, one setup, one creative director — and you leave with two content libraries instead of one. It is the single biggest budget lever in content production.

Are these prices for San Diego only?

The ranges reflect the San Diego County market, including La Jolla, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Del Mar, and Coronado. Kanyon Studio also takes work in greater Los Angeles; travel beyond San Diego County is quoted up front.
